I’ve always been fascinated with the poster art of World War 2. It’s a whole feast of ideas and styles. The messages had to be communicated in the most direct and understandable way possible but the artists still managed to inject a bit (sometimes a lot) of style and humour into their designs.
I started to imagine what the Coronavirus crisis would look like through this 1940s war poster medium. I’ve tried to be as true to the period look as possible. For instance, I’ve made COVID-19 into a character - as I think they would have done if this had happened in the 40s. It’s been fun doing these!
